TamilNadu Open University
TamilNadu Open University was founded by the act (No.27 of 2002) of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu for those who are deprived of and / or no access to higher education especially destitute disability benefits, working men and women, the economically weaker groups in society and those who discontinued education for various reasons, so the key is to reach unreached before. The university offers various programs in different subjects.
TamilNadu Open University offers courses in the Open model. There are minimum qualifications for access. Certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered. It is modeled after Indira Gandhi National Open University. Initially model has Twenty Programmes are offered in different areas and now available in more than Sixty Programmes in different subjects offered by Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU). It has easy access and

TNOU is the only institution in Tamil Nadu to access grants from the South Asia Foundation (SAF). This University has just five years of its existence, but there is considerable progress in research and education. Approximately 25,000 students currently receive higher education at the university within walking distance.

Com., BA (Economics, History, Tamil, English, Tourism), MA (History, Economics, Tamil, English, Tamil, Psychology, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology) and Program in Computing (CIC), Environmental Sciences (CES), Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications and Certificate , Rural Development (CRD), Food and Nutrition (CFN), cooling and air-conditioning technician (CRAT), teaching Assistant (CCA), teaching Elementary Mathematics (CTPM), House Electrician (CHE), empowering women through Self-Help Group (CWDL), Plumbing Technician (CPT), Desk Top Printing (DTP), and Four Wheeler Mechanic (CFM) in the academic year 2004 -2005.
